PLANETA - "The Faces of Harvest"

THE FACES OF HARVEST - Menfi, 9th August 2011.

Planeta's grape harvest begins today, and it will be one of the longest harvests in Italy - and the world.

This is a time for excellent grapes and enchanting landscapes, from Sambuca di Sicilia and Menfi to Noto, then Vittoria, and finally, in October, Mount Etna. The official starting date is August 9th, with grape picking on the hills around Menfi. We will finish in October, with the Etna reds. Three months, going from Chardonnay to Nerello Mascalese, a journey through ever-changing aromas, tastes and colours.

During the 2011 grape harvest, Planeta will create a Photo Album called 'I volti della vendemmia', "The Faces of Harvest", which will be published on Planeta Winery's Facebook Page:

From the beginning to the end, each day of harvesting will be embodied by a picture to highlight the faces of all those who share this experience with us, from winery and vineyard workers to visitors (EVERYBODY IS INVITED!) who wish to get a closer view of the fascinating rite of grape harvesting. In other words, we would like to share and comment with our friends this moment which for us is the most important.

The photos will be posted directly on Facebook, the world's first social network with its 750 million users, including 4,800 Planeta Winery fans, and will also be shared on Twitter!

They will be taken by the protagonists, Alessio, Chiara and Francesca Planeta along with Patricia Tòth, as
well as by both professional and amateur photographers who will visit Planeta during harvest time.

About the 2011 Harvest: Harvesting began on 9th August. A glorious Spring with regular rains and a cool June/July contributed to properly prepare the vineyards. This year has all the makings of a very good vintage, but we will have to wait until October for the final results.
